One Heck of a Life

30 May

So we kicked Memorial Day Weekend off last night with a BBQ!  Our best and finest showed up for Dave’s delicious Hawaiian burgers, some yummy potato salad and marshmallow roasting!  We appreciate the turn out and were glad to host everyone- AWESOME time!!!

As for the past few weeks: Chelley ran her first 5k.  She was sick and the atmosphere was thick with humidity and fog. BUT, she did it!  30minutes and 50seconds, sweaty and snotty, she did it!

(Coming in after the 1st mile)

Chelley’s next race is uncertain, except for the ING Rock ‘n Roll Half-marathon  in Philadelphia in September… some more trial races are sure to come!

(Coming into the finish)

The real post

14 May

We’ve been homeowners for one year… today.

This time last year we had no ceiling in the living room. No pipes without holes. No wiring without cloth.

This year- we have a home. 1400sqft of awesome. Kustom Martinka design.

Thank  you to Mama and Papa Martinka for all of their help, and the Worth-LaManna clan for their ever continuing donations of love, money and epic furniture!

May, already?

14 May

So it’s already May and we’re your typical couple, all nested in the blankets, basking in the sun- Oh wait… that’s the cat:

Anyhow… next weekend Chelley is going to embark on her first road race in Westerly, RI.  It will be a 5k (3.1 miles), and although she runs double this distance at least 3 times a week, she’s a little nervous.

5k Run/Walk [10:00 am]
3k Walk [10:00 am]

The race will begin at Westerly Land Trust’s beautiful Avondale Farm Preserve, encompassing approximately 50 acres of coastal sand plain grass land, fresh water ponds and wetlands near Watch Hill, RI, with a paved road system used for passive recreation. The race will continue on neighboring roadways before finishing back at the preserve.
